STORY

On the colony planet Solo, Earthlings discover ruins left behind by aliens known as the "Sixth Civilization." At the same time, aliens from the Buff Clan arrive on this colony planet to research the legendary power of Ide. Due to a misunderstanding between the two sides, the Buff Clan declares war on the Earthlings of the colony, and the protagonist, Yuki Cosmo, pilots the robot Ideon to fight against them. The story unfolds based on continuous misunderstandings, hatred, and the desire to obtain the infinite energy of the Ide.

threezeroX is threezero's high-end product line, where the "X" signifies "crossover," collaborating with renowned artists from around the world to release innovative new collectible products. After more than five years of design, prototyping, and development, Threezero proudly presents the second product in this series: the threezeroX Takayuki Takeya Ideon!

The design and prototype for the threezeroX Ideon were created by the famous Japanese sculptor, Takayuki Takeya. Based on the story of the classic 80s anime "Space Runaway Ideon," directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino (the creator of "Mobile Suit Gundam"), Master Takeya has redesigned the main mecha, "Ideon," and specialized the concept of it being an ancient relic of the mysterious "Sixth Civilization."

To emphasize that Ideon was created by non-human technology, Master Takeya added original geometric patterns to its surface, making it difficult to discern whether these patterns are purely decorative or serve a practical purpose. In terms of its overall form, Master Takeya retained the unique elements of the anime version of Ideon but boldly re-imagined its original blocky appearance to make it look more like a creation of an alien civilization. After Master Takeya's highly creative redesign, and adorned with Ideon's iconic red and white colors and the IDN logo, the threezeroX Takayuki Takeya Ideon redefines the classic anime robot.

The threezeroX Takayuki Takeya Ideon is a collectible articulated figure standing approximately 46cm (18 inches) tall from foot to shoulder, and about 42cm (16.5 inches) from foot to head. It features over 125 points of articulation throughout its body (including fully articulated fingers), combined with a uniquely designed zinc alloy die-cast internal frame that provides stability for its massive body and secures its range of motion. The product includes 5 LED light-up features installed in the eyes, wrists (for the Ideon Swords), and the two Ideon Gauges on the abdomen. Exquisite paint application techniques have been used throughout to replicate the coloring of Master Takeya's original prototype. It also comes with an action stand designed by Master Takeya, enhancing its playability and reinforcing the atmosphere of Ideon as an ancient relic of the "Sixth Civilization."

Basically, carrying this guy downstairs for a photoshoot is no different from going to the gym... And on that day, the outdoor temperature was 34 degrees Celsius. After shooting for about three hours, my entire body, including my underwear, was soaked, and I nearly got heatstroke... Anyway, I just hope you all like it! (๑•̀ᄇ•́)و ✧

Getting back to the figure itself, its appearance can basically be described as "invincible"! However, due to its form and design, the articulation in some areas is less than ideal. For example, the head, or more specifically the neck's articulation, and the two wrists are all extremely difficult to turn. When handling it, you also need to pay special attention to the head assembly. The back of the head and the armor around the neck are very likely to collide, causing paint chipping! Having seven thousand Hong Kong dollars go down the drain like that would really not be worth it... Additionally, everyone should be careful with the finger joints, as they might be stuck together due to paint application issues. Therefore, when moving the finger joints, you must bend them carefully to avoid breakage.

That's about it for the areas that need improvement or attention. Now, let's talk about my personal feelings! Anyone who buys this must be a die-hard fan of Master Takeya, and I admit, I am one! The QC on this piece is not bad! And its strongest point is the sturdiness of its joints. No need for a lengthy introduction, just look at the photos and you'll understand! A price of HK$7,000 is certainly not consumer-friendly! But honestly, this will be one of my D.M.S. 2024 Top Ten Best Buys! Rather than calling it a toy, it would be more fitting to call it a posable work of art!

If you have the chance to own it, don't store it away. You must display it to do justice to the hard work of threezero and the master!

I look forward to threezero's next collaboration with a master artist!
