Renowned poster design and toy company MONDO has announced a new series of products based on the classic American animated series "ThunderCats," with the first release being the 1/6 scale action figure of the young leader of the ThunderCats—"Lion-O"! The suggested retail price is US$250, and it will be available for limited-time pre-order on the MONDO official website from August 13th noon to August 23rd noon CT, with an estimated release in October 2024!
"ThunderCats" is a television animation co-produced by American and Japanese studios, broadcast in the United States from 1985 to 1986, and introduced to Taiwan by CTV in 1986. It tells the story of the ThunderCats clan fleeing their dying homeworld, only to be attacked and decimated by a mutant army en route. The surviving ThunderCats crash-land on Earth, where the young leader Lion-O must lead the survivors in a battle against the local mutant forces.
MONDO's "One Six" series of 1/6 scale action figures, including their "Masters of the Universe" line, has consistently maintained exceptionally high quality. This has led fans to eagerly request a "ThunderCats" release, another iconic 80s toy IP. After extensive effort and development, MONDO's dream design team has successfully delivered the first "ThunderCats" 1/6 scale action figure! Standing approximately 30.5 cm tall, the product faithfully recreates Lion-O's classic animated appearance, reinterpreted with a more realistic approach. The sculpting showcases Lion-O's lean musculature and the texture of his fur, while the paint application captures the metallic sheen of his armor, exuding Lion-O's powerful charisma!
Accessories include three sets of interchangeable hands and four interchangeable head sculpts, one of which is an original head sculpt redesigned by the MONDO team. For weaponry, multiple forms of the Sword of Omens are included, such as the dagger, classic, standard, and a long sword with lightning effects. The Claw Shield equipped on his left hand also comes with an additional furry version alongside the classic golden one, offering a different visual effect. Furthermore, the figure includes the Book of Omens, a Snarf model, and a fabric cape, allowing for various dynamic poses to showcase the Lord of the ThunderCats!
