Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya has announced the release of a new product in its assembly model customization parts "M.S.G" series: "Heavy Weapon Unit 52 Gunblade Lance 2 Black Ver.", scheduled for December 2024.
The Gunblade Lance was a popular model released in 2016 as the 12th installment of the Heavy Weapon Unit series. It is a composite weapon featuring separation, combination, and transformation mechanisms. Its design allows for free decomposition of parts to recreate transformations through various combinations. In addition to the basic "Gunblade Lance" form, it can transform into multiple other forms such as a rifle, dual swords, poleaxe, short axe, greatsword, and more, making it compatible with Kotobukiya's Frame Arms, Frame Arms Girl, Megami Device, and other assembly model series for customization.
"Gunblade Lance 2 Black Ver." is a product under the 【TOKYO Mark】 brand, produced in Japan through a collaboration between Kotobukiya and Kikuchi Seisakusho Co., Ltd. It uses the same parts as Units 46/47, but the molding colors have been changed to black and clear red. Some detailed sculpts, part divisions, and color separations have been altered to address color separation aspects not achieved in the old version and to feature more streamlined flame blade effects. The shape and division of the long handle have also been changed; while it no longer has a short axe mode like the old version, it offers a richer total of 8 modes, including "Flame Gun Axe," "Dual Swords," "Dagger," and "Burst (all parts)," which is more extensive than the previous version.
