Dark Horse Direct, the brand under independent American comic publisher Dark Horse Comics that integrates and sells various entertainment merchandise, and game developer Crystal Dynamics have once again partnered, following their previous collaboration on the "Lara Croft Classic Era," to release a new product themed after the classic game Tomb Raider – the "Lara Croft" PVC statue. It is priced at a suggested retail of US$89.99 and is expected to ship from February to April 2025!
Tomb Raider was originally an action-adventure game launched by British game company Core Design in 1996 on the SEGA SATURN. It subsequently spawned numerous game sequels, novels, comics, and film adaptations. Lara Croft is the protagonist of the game series. When she first appeared in the inaugural game, due to 3D technology being in its nascent stages, the limited polygon count meant her curvaceous figure could only be rendered in a blocky, almost cubic manner. This angular design later became a beloved meme among gamers!
This Lara Croft PVC statue stands approximately 23.9 cm tall. It appears to primarily reference the initial design from 2014's Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, sculpting Lara's in-game appearance and her attractive, toned physique. The paint application faithfully recreates her classic teal tank top, khaki shorts, and various costume details such as her backpack and straps. It also includes interchangeable dual pistols and a climbing axe accessory, adding versatility to display options. The base features a substantial ancient jungle ruin scene, with the title "Tomb Raider" engraved on the front. The detailed coloring captures the aged textures and visual effects of the ruins, perfectly recreating the series' ambiance!
