Iron Man Mark VII

Compared to the Mark V, which could fold into a suitcase, the Mark VII, while also featuring a transformation mechanism, abandoned the concept of portability. Instead, it adopted a design where the armor actively deploys to the wearer. The Mark VII is normally on standby in a streamlined, pod-like folded form. When the user has an urgent need, the suit can be automatically launched from the armor bay under J.A.R.V.I.S.'s control, flying at high speed over a certain distance using its independent power source. After initial positioning by the central control system, the Mark VII begins its suiting-up procedure by jettisoning the large fairing on its back. While deploying its aerodynamic flaps to the sides, it extends two laser scanners from its shoulder sections. Once the scanners achieve more precise dynamic positioning by targeting the magnetic bracelets worn by Tony, the semi-deployed Mark VII accelerates forward, automatically enveloping the wearer's limbs and other parts in a clinging fashion, completing the suiting-up and system boot-up process within 10 seconds.

Unlike previous Iron Man armors that relied solely on leg thrusters and palm repulsors for flight, the Mark VII's most significant feature is the additional composite thruster backpack mounted on its shoulders. This equipment comprises three main parts: shoulder weapon pods, a main back thruster, and large aerodynamic flaps. This not only greatly enhances the armor's mobility but also allows the wearer to more flexibly use the palm repulsors for aerial dogfights. Furthermore, a series of small nozzles are located on both sides of the Mark VII's chest plate and within the golden sections on the outer calves. In emergencies, the outer covers can be opened to further increase the armor's flight speed.

After the Battle of New York, the repaired Mark VII was brought back to the armor bay in Tony's Malibu home workshop for collection. It was later detonated during A.I.M.'s attack with armed helicopters (presumably due to the self-destruct function being activated), and finally sank into the sea along with the remains of the mansion.

In the last six months, toys that could make me go "Wow!" have been few and far between... The only one that comes to mind is this Black & Gold Iron Man MK VII!

To celebrate Marvel's 85th anniversary, Hot Toys has launched the Iron Man Mark VII (Black & Gold Electroplating Version) 1:6 Scale Diecast Collectible Figure! Utilizing a multi-layer electroplating coloring technique, the armor pieces are coated with varying shades and finishes of steel black and luxurious gold, creating a striking appearance with a brilliant platinum metallic texture. Conforming to the movie specifications of the Mark VII, this figure is constructed with diecast material, standing approximately 32.5cm tall with a streamlined, mechanical body proportion. It features over 30 points of articulation. The circular chest reactor, eyes, and palm repulsors are equipped with LED light-up functions that emit a white glow, creating an excellent visual effect.

Furthermore, the figure is equipped with a wide array of weapon systems, including intricately structured hidden shoulder missile launchers, forearm micro-missile systems, flare dispensers hidden in the hip pods, and laser-effect accessories. It also comes with multiple interchangeable armor parts to display its missile-firing attack modes, fully restoring the Mark VII's combat capabilities. Additionally, the chest armor is detachable, and the back spoilers and leg armor feature opening functions, showcasing the complex and detailed internal mechanical structures. A specially designed figure stand is included, enhanced with LED light-up features and infused with black and gold electroplated elements, echoing the overall luxurious style of the collectible figure!

Limited to 2,500 sets worldwide, with 500 sets available exclusively at the Echo Base specialty store in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.

The look of this MK VII is excellent, and the display base, now powered by USB, is also magnificent. The QC on my unit is acceptable, though some areas were painted without proper dust removal, resulting in dust specks! An area for improvement is the painful process of installing batteries and swapping parts; screws should be avoided in favor of magnets wherever possible. Other than that, there's not much to criticize.

Anyway, if you can get it at the retail price, I think it's an absolute must-recommend......

Must be D.M.S. 10 Best Buy@2024!
