The world-renowned TV and film special effects company "WETA Workshop"'s "Miniature Statue" product series, which was teased a few days ago, has finally officially unveiled the "Shelob" diorama statue from "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King"! Shipments are expected to begin in Q1 2025, with a suggested retail price of US$179.

In Tolkien's Middle-earth lore, the giant spider monster Shelob is a descendant of Ungoliant, the dark spider of the First Age. Mentions of Ungoliant in "The Silmarillion" include her assistance to Morgoth/Melkor in destroying the Two Trees of Valinor, and her draining of their sap to gain extraordinary power! While Shelob, as her descendant, does not possess such immense power, she is undoubtedly a terrifying creature for the Orcs stationed at Cirith Ungol and the Hobbits who stumble into her lair.

This piece stands approximately 11.3 cm tall and, based on the film settings of "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," recreates the terrifying scene of Shelob preparing to hunt Frodo in the dark paths of Cirith Ungol. The diminutive Hobbit contrasted against Shelob's massive body conveys a suffocating atmosphere of despair. The biggest selling point is undoubtedly Shelob's body itself, rendered with exquisite craftsmanship based on film props and design sketches. The highly organic gradient coloring, articulated joints, a head covered in protrusions, and a deeply sculpted, textured abdomen truly make one feel increasingly uneasy the more they look at it! However, we are confident that there are collectors who will absolutely love this kind of detail, so we highly recommend it to you.
