Make the sushi shine! The renowned Hong Kong toy manufacturer "Kougyoudou", known for releasing various soft vinyl toys, has collaborated with the famous Japanese specialty gallery "Hakaba Gallery" (墓場の画廊) to release a soft vinyl figure of the protagonist, "Shota Sekiguchi", from the renowned manga series "Shota no Sushi"!
Although the name "Hakaba Gallery" (墓場の画廊) sounds eerie, it is actually a magical exhibition space. Its main store is located on the third floor of Tokyo's Nakano Broadway building, and it has hosted numerous subculture exhibitions, including themes related to anime, tokusatsu, nostalgia, and more. It also collaborates with many well-known manufacturers to sell various related products and original merchandise.
"Shota no Sushi" (将太の寿司) is a cooking manga created by Japanese manga artist Daisuke Terasawa, which began serialization in 1992 in "Magazine Special". It focuses on sushi, a classic cultural food representative of Japan, as its main theme. The story follows the protagonist, Shota Sekiguchi, whose family owns a sushi restaurant in Otaru, Hokkaido. Planning to follow in his father's footsteps, Shota decides to apprentice at the famous "Otori Sushi" restaurant in Tokyo. The entire work describes Shota's journey from a novice, competing and learning from numerous masters and experts, overcoming various challenges and trials, and gradually becoming a full-fledged sushi chef. The meticulously drawn, beautiful, and seemingly delicious sushi depicted in the work is a major feature that attracts readers.
This Shota Sekiguchi figure, produced by Kougyoudou, stands approximately 23 cm tall. It faithfully recreates Shota's most frequently worn sushi chef attire from the original work as its design basis. You can see him in his all-white uniform, wearing a white chef's hat, an apron, and flip-flops. His large eyes are bright and expressive. With interchangeable hand parts, his sushi-making pose can be recreated, bringing back memories of his intense sushi-making battles against masters.
