Kotobukiya, a Japanese model manufacturer, has developed the original highly customizable model kit series 『HEXA GEAR』, and has announced the upcoming release of its latest product, "Hardshell," slated for February 2025.
This new unit, "Hardshell," appearing in the smaller, lower-priced spin-off series 『ALTERNATIVE』, is a small, unmanned Hexa Gear developed by the military-industrial complex MSG. It can be remotely operated by a mother unit to perform various excavation tasks in three transformation modes, including "Crustacean Mode" for rock crushing, "Wheeled Mode" for transporting sand and debris, and "Claw Mode" to serve as an additional weapon or armor for a mother unit.
The "Hexa Gear ALTERNATIVE Hardshell" kit allows for the assembly of two "Hardshell" units upon completion. Its highly modular body not only makes assembly and customization easy but also allows for the recreation of all three transformation modes with excellent posability. The arm and tail parts can be infinitely extended by combining multiple kits. In "Claw Mode," two "Hardshell" units can freely connect with separately sold Hexa Gear units to form impressive armaments.
