Sentinel, a popular Japanese model manufacturer, today announced the latest product from its popular RIOBOT alloy action figure series, the "Dragonar-1 Custom" from the anime "Metal Armor Dragonar," scheduled for release in May 2025.
Piloted by protagonist Ken Wakaba, the XD-01 Dragonar-1 is one of the three new "D-Weapons." It possesses excellent maneuverability and the ability to combat Metal Armors in close-quarters battle, though it lacks long-range combat capabilities. In the latter half of the story, this unit was significantly upgraded into the "Dragonar-1 Custom," with major improvements to its frame, thermonuclear reactor, and body weight, and was further equipped with a gravity field sensing system, greatly enhancing its performance and output.
The "RIOBOT Dragonar-1 Custom" is a three-dimensional rendition based on the design by mechanical designer Kyoji Takigawa, which was featured in the 2011 "Metal Armor Dragonar" research and setting book. The majority of its movable frame is constructed from alloy materials, while the exterior armor utilizes ABS to achieve sharp edges and elegant curves. It is finished with a rich color scheme including matte white, glossy red & yellow, and features body markings, faithfully reproducing the unit's cool silhouette and substantial feel.
The entire figure incorporates sophisticated articulation mechanisms, providing a flexible range of motion that allows for dynamic combat poses such as cool crouching shots and flight, as well as its parked state with folded main wings. In terms of weaponry, in addition to the handheld railgun, laser sword, and shield, it also includes bombs, disc bombs, and assault knives stored in various parts of the unit.
Furthermore, purchasing this product through official Sentinel channels such as the SENTINEL STORE will grant a limited bonus item, the "Photon Bazooka." This weapon is not only impressively sized but also features a silvery metallic paint finish to convey the metallic texture of its body, with the muzzle at the front presented using silver-painted parts plus a transparent red cover.
