BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS, from Japan, has announced the latest product in its transforming alloy model series 『HI-METAL R』: the "L-Gaim Mk-II", from the anime Heavy Metal L-Gaim, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. It is scheduled for release in March 2025.
The L-Gaim Mk-II is the unit piloted by the rebel protagonist, Daba Myroad, in the latter half of the story. It is a transformable A-class heavy metal that was modified after capturing the Poseidal Army's new military heavy metal, the "Amon-Duul". Based on Yaman technology, this unit incorporates the "Spiral Flow Core" system integrated into the chest cockpit and features a 360-degree cockpit screen, which the original L-Gaim lacked. In addition to enhanced overall performance, the Mk-II also possesses a transformation mechanism into the "Prowler" booster, allowing it to quickly travel to and from the front lines and transport other units.
The "HI-METAL R L-Gaim Mk-II" recreates the intricate design of the unit at an approximate height of 28.5 cm. It features a movable frame constructed from alloy materials, providing firm joints and a substantial feel during play. In addition to allowing for cool combat poses, it also includes the transformation mechanism into the "Prowler" booster, which can be displayed using a dedicated stand.
The head parts include interchangeable normal and battle-damaged states, as seen in the final episode. The chest armor can open to reveal and store the Spiral Flow Core. The shield features an expansion mechanism to expose internal weapons such as mines. Armaments include a saber, wrist energy cannon, and a 31.5 cm long Buster Launcher. Similar to the previous two HI-METAL R Heavy Metal products, Yukio Kitta has been invited to illustrate the packaging for this item.
