The "MODEROID" series of model kits, launched by Japan's MECHA SMILE brand, today announced the latest product from the anime "Super Electric Robot Tetsujin 28 FX", the "Tetsujin 28 FX + Tetsujin 17 Phoenix", scheduled for release in May 2025.
Aired in 1992, "Super Electric Robot Tetsujin 28 FX" is a sequel set decades after the story of the series' first work, "Tetsujin 28". The former boy detective, Shotaro Kaneda, has grown into a 45-year-old private detective and established the "Kaneda Detective Agency". With the full assistance of his wife, Yoko, and the family's Sakaki Zaibatsu, he not only preserved the old Tetsujin 28 but also initiated the "New Tetsujin Project" robot development plan, creating dozens of new-generation Tetsujin units. Their eldest son, Masato Kaneda, became the pilot of the new-generation Tetsujin "Tetsujin 28 FX", fighting alongside Shotaro Kaneda's detective partners against the evil organization "Neo Black Organization" led by President Zorn.
The "MODEROID Tetsujin 28 FX + Tetsujin 17 Phoenix" is constructed using multi-color molded parts, some pre-painted parts, and stickers. Once completed, Tetsujin 28 FX stands approximately 16.5 cm tall, recreating its powerful physique and heavy armor with precise sculpting. It features flexible articulated joints, allowing for various cool combat poses with multiple interchangeable hand parts. The chest can also replicate its glowing state by swapping out parts.
The other unit that can be completed with this kit, "Tetsujin 17 Phoenix", features large articulated wings. After transforming, it can connect to the back of Tetsujin 28 FX to complete the combination, recreating its flight form. Additionally, the product includes a dedicated cable part, allowing it to link with the separately sold "Black Ox (Tetsujin 29 OX)" to recreate the scene of unleashing their combined special move, "Double Power Extinction Blaster".
