The highly popular "Anxiously Waiting" (tentative translation, Machibouke) toy series, released by Bandai Co., Ltd.'s GASHAPON capsule toy division, is now offering its latest product, "Anxiously Waiting Kingdom Characters" (キングダム まちぼうけ), on GASHAPON ONLINE! Scheduled to ship in late January 2025, the suggested retail price is 400 JPY per capsule, with a total of 4 designs to collect.
One is Shin, a commoner who dreams of becoming the greatest general under heaven; the other is Ei Sei, a king with no real power but who desires to unify all under heaven. The two met through Shin's friend, Hyou, and from a small hut in the Qin village of "Kokuhi Village," they embark on a path to create an unprecedented nation! The "Anxiously Waiting Kingdom Characters" Gashapon series sculpts the characters' distinct features within a 4 cm height, creating three-dimensional models that appear to be patiently awaiting their moment to sally forth. This first wave features four characters: Shin, Ei Sei, Karyo Ten, and Kyou Kai. Their chibi proportions, combined with expressions of helpless resignation as if they've been waiting so long they're questioning their existence, create a charming contrast that deviates significantly from the original story's setting. After all, how could our great King Ei Sei ever show such an expression! Though Kyou Kai, who sometimes loves to slack off, might very well (laughs). And if Shin is made to wait too long, he'd surely kick over tables and loudly complain~!
Bandai has also announced that a second wave is currently in development! From the silhouettes, the editor speculates that General Ouki and his reliable deputy Tou will likely be included. We're truly looking forward to it~!
