The "SYNERGENEX" series, an external collaboration toy line launched by TAKARA TOMY's high-end toy brand T-SPARK, today announced the latest collaboration product, "Rathalos Optimus Prime (リオレウスプライム)", a crossover between their popular transforming toy "Transformers" and the hunting co-op game "Monster Hunter", which celebrates its 20th anniversary. It is scheduled for release in late July 2025.
This product merges the highly popular signature monster "Rathalos" from the 《Monster Hunter》 series with the most iconic character "Optimus Prime" from the 《Transformers》 series. Leveraging TAKARA TOMY's extensive experience in designing transforming toys, it features a complete transformation mechanism, allowing it to change from the "Rathalos Form", the king of the skies, into the "Optimus Prime Form" clad in Rathalos armor.
In "Rathalos Form", although slightly plump due to housing Optimus Prime internally, the overall silhouette is essentially identical to the original, reproducing the distinctive patterns on its wings. Multiple points of articulation in the head, wings, and legs allow for dynamic flying and walking poses.
Upon transforming into "Optimus Prime Form", the original Rathalos exterior cleverly becomes Optimus Prime's Rathalos armor, while also maintaining articulation in the limbs. The tail part transforms into the weapon "Charge Blade", which can switch between sword and axe modes, replicating the combat style from the 《Monster Hunter》 game. Furthermore, Optimus Prime's "Matrix of Leadership" has been reimagined as the "Collaboration Matrix (コラボマトリクス)" for this release, which can be stored within Rathalos Optimus Prime.
