Bandai Spirits' adult-oriented Kamen Rider belt series, 'COMPLETE SELECTION MODIFICATION', today officially announced the latest product from 'Kamen Rider W', the 'Double Driver ver.2', slated for release in February 2025.
The 'Double Driver', used by the two protagonists Shotaro Hidari and Philip in the series, is a device that links their consciousnesses and combines the power of two 'Gaia Memories' to transform into Kamen Rider W. Even if their physical bodies are separated, Philip can transfer both the Gaia Memory and his consciousness to Shotaro after inserting the Memory, completing the transformation and fighting using Shotaro's body.
The 'CSM Double Driver ver.2', arriving 15 years after the initial release, is a significantly upgraded new product based on the ver.1.5 released in 2019. Both the main unit and the Gaia Memories feature completely new sculpts, boasting a design closer to what is seen in the show. It is equipped with a new electronic mechanism and includes numerous in-show sound effects, such as dialogue from Shotaro Hidari (played by Renn Kiriyama) and Philip (played by Masaki Suda) from the time 'Kamen Rider W' aired, the theme song 'W-B-X 〜W Boiled Extreme〜', and various BGM tracks. It also features rich sound effects for belt attachment, Memory transfer, Philip's collapse, and more. Additionally, the transformation standby sound effect has been changed to emanate directly from the Driver itself.
Furthermore, the Double Driver and various Gaia Memories are equipped with a brand-new 'mutual recognition function'. This allows the Double Driver to identify 'which Memory has been inserted', and the Gaia Memories to identify 'which side of the Driver they are inserted into' and 'what Memory is inserted on the other side'. This enables variations in the timing of transformation sound effects and allows the Driver to recognize the transforming form, activating form-specific sound effects, dialogue, and special moves. This technology is also planned to be implemented in future ver.2 transformation item releases.
What's more, the Double Driver ver.2 features a 'Two-in-One Mode' that recreates the two protagonists' transformation sequence. Two sets of 'Double Driver ver.2' products possess a mutual communication function. When one unit emits the 'belt attachment sound effect', it will use infrared communication to cause the other unit to also emit the 'belt attachment sound effect'. After inserting the Memory and emitting the 'transfer sound effect', the other unit will automatically emit the 'transfer sound effect', faithfully recreating the on-screen long-distance transformation sequence of the two.
※Even with only one 'Double Driver ver.2' unit, all sound effects for the 'Two-in-One Mode' can be activated. When paired with previously released ver.1/ver.1.5 versions, only sound effects will be produced.
