Toho Co., Ltd.'s "Godzilla Room" (ゴジラルーム), the department specifically managing Godzilla-related business, is launching its own brand-new assembly model kit series, "TOHO MONSTERS KIT." The first release will be a product themed after "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla"—the "Godzilla (1993)" assembly model kit. The suggested retail price is 3,850 JPY, and it is scheduled for release on November 3, 2024!
The film "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla," released in 1993, is the fifth installment in the Heisei Godzilla series. The story recounts that after the events of "Godzilla vs. Mothra," humanity established the United Nations Godzilla Countermeasures Center and the anti-Godzilla special forces unit "G-Force." They extracted the remains of Mecha-King Ghidorah from the seabed and, combining it with 23rd-century technology, created the powerful anti-Godzilla weapon, "Mechagodzilla."
The "TOHO MONSTERS KIT" models feature realistic sculpting developed in-house by Toho. This inaugural "Godzilla (1993)" assembly model kit can be completed without glue, using snap-fit assembly. The finished height is approximately 14 cm. It faithfully recreates Godzilla's heavy, rough body textures and imposing presence from the movie "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla." The lower jaw and tail feature simple single-joint articulation. The model itself is unpainted, allowing all toy enthusiasts to showcase their skills and paint it in their own style! The official images of the painted finished product look incredibly cool!
