PLEX, a Japanese model manufacturer, and ART SPIRITS have announced the latest product in their tokusatsu kaiju-themed figure series "Gekizo EX", the "Biollante Blacklight Ver." from the movie "Godzilla vs. Biollante", slated for release in January 2025.
Popular kaiju Biollante appeared in the 1989 film "Godzilla vs. Biollante". It is one of the few kaiju in the Godzilla series accidentally created by humans, and also the largest kaiju, requiring the most human operators for its portrayal. In the film, Dr. Genichiro Shiragami, an authority in genetic engineering, combined his deceased daughter's cells with her favorite rose to commemorate her. However, as the rose neared wilting, Dr. Shiragami further incorporated Godzilla's cells, which possess self-regenerative capabilities, causing the rose to continuously evolve and transform into the ferocious kaiju "Biollante".
The "Gekizo EX Biollante Blacklight Ver." is based on the sculpt of the previous standard edition. At a height of 12.3 cm, it meticulously captures Biollante's ferocious head sculpt, its mouth full of dense sharp teeth, and the high-density back details resembling Godzilla's dorsal fins combined with ferns. Even each of its thick tentacles features a snarling, gaping mouth sculpt. What's different is that the abdominal core, encased in a net-like structure, is painted with new pigments, allowing it to glow when illuminated by a blacklight!
