Hideo Kojima recently unveiled new details about "Death Stranding 2 On The Beach," the highly anticipated sequel to "Death Stranding," at the Tokyo Game Show. In a separate interview with Variety, Kojima also delved into the development process for "OD," his upcoming collaboration with Xbox Game Studios.

While Kojima Productions has remained tight-lipped about "OD" since its December 2023 reveal, Hideo Kojima himself admitted that the eerie horror title presents a more challenging and even "risky" endeavor compared to his previous work on "Death Stranding."
"I've always wanted to try something different from 'Death Stranding,' which led me to collaborate with Microsoft on 'OD.' While it is fundamentally a game, it stands apart from other titles," Kojima stated. "I can't divulge too many details, and it's genuinely difficult to explain, but for me, it's a somewhat risky yet incredibly challenging new test."

When Hideo Kojima unveiled the "OD" game trailer last year, it was revealed that Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier would star. Notably, filmmaker Jordan Peele, known for directing acclaimed films like "Us" and "Nope," was also announced as a co-creator. In the interview, Kojima elaborated on his decision to invite Peele to join the project.
"I'm a fan of Jordan's. At the time, I watched 'Nope' and even dedicated a Spotify podcast episode to it," Kojima shared. "It turned out Jordan Peele was also a fan of mine, so we arranged a Zoom call. Even though he's younger than me and we come from different generations, after just five minutes of talking, it felt like we were childhood friends."

Kojima continued, "I often get this feeling when someone's way of thinking is very similar to mine, and it happens quite frequently. Regardless, we later decided to meet in Los Angeles. After several meetings, we began discussing our ongoing projects, and I explained the creative direction for 'OD.' Once I saw how incredibly interested he was, I invited him to join my production team."
