Kyle Chandler Confirmed as DCU's Hal Jordan in "Lanterns" Series; Josh Brolin Praises Casting: "He's a Wonderful Actor"

Emmy-nominated actor Kyle Chandler (pictured right) was confirmed last week to portray the older Hal Jordan in the new DCU series "Lanterns." Josh Brolin (pictured left), known for his role as Thanos and previously rumored to have declined the part, recently addressed the casting in an interview.

While promoting his upcoming film "Brothers" on Comicbook.com, which also stars Peter Dinklage and Brendan Fraser, Brolin stated that although he ultimately didn't take on the role in "Lanterns," he felt it was perfectly fine.

"You know what? Green Lantern didn't work out, but that's okay. It's working out. Who is it going to be, Kyle Chandler? I love him as an actor, I think he's wonderful, actually. And, you know, we'll see what's down the line, man," Brolin said.

Reports suggest that Brolin's remarks indicate his openness to potentially joining the DC Universe in a different capacity if a suitable role emerges. Brolin has a significant history in comic book adaptations, having played Thanos multiple times in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Cable in "Deadpool 2." Should he secure a prominent role in the DC Universe, it would solidify his status as one of the most iconic actors in the comic book film genre.

Brolin and Dinklage's film "Brothers" is scheduled for a limited theatrical release in North America on October 10, 2024, before premiering on Prime Video on October 17, 2024.
