After his 2007 Stephen King adaptation "The Mist" and the 2013 series "Mob City," acclaimed director Frank Darabont announced his retirement from filmmaking. Now, 11 years later, the director-producer renowned for films like "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile" is officially making his return! 
Darabont recently confirmed to The Daily Beast that he has joined the production of Netflix's popular hit series "Stranger Things" Season 5, where he will direct two episodes. He is also known for launching the classic zombie series "The Walking Dead."
“The real reason I’m coming back is that my wife and I really love this show,” Darabont said of "Stranger Things." He added, “Our content now is so filled with horrible people doing horrible things for greedy reasons but Stranger Things has so much heart. That positivity is something I really responded to.”
However, this doesn't necessarily mean Darabont is making a full return to the film industry. He stated that he doesn't miss the business itself, saying, “But I do miss the feeling of working with a creative team... This might just be an exception, but who knows? We still have time.”
"Stranger Things" Season 5 is currently filming in Atlanta and is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2025. It will serve as the final season for the "Stranger Things" series.
