Produced by Japan's PLEX Company and distributed by X-PLUS Company, the popular soft vinyl figure series "DEFOREAL," which incorporates intricate realistic details into adorable chibi proportions, today officially announced the latest product from the "Godzilla vs. Evangelion" collaboration project: "EVANGELION Unit-02 Beast 'G' Mode," slated for release in January 2025.
The dream collaboration project "Godzilla vs. Evangelion," realized with Hideaki Anno's direction of "Shin Godzilla" as its catalyst, officially launched in 2016. Since then, numerous popular products featuring Godzilla and EVA together have been released. Among them, the pachinko machine "P Godzilla vs. Evangelion ~G-Cell Awakening~" boasts a brand-new story that merges the two worlds, depicting a mutated form of Unit-01 whose body is eroded by G-cells after being attacked by Godzilla's atomic breath. This setting was later brought to life as a model product by PLEX, generating considerable buzz and high demand.
The "DEFOREAL EVANGELION Unit-02 Beast 'G' Mode" is based on the original concept of EVA Unit-02's Beast Mode fused with Godzilla cells, crafted with an entirely new sculpt to achieve the characteristic chibi proportions of the "DEFOREAL" series. Standing approximately 18cm tall, its body meticulously details Unit-02's damaged restraint armor, the multiple limiters deployed on its back, and the rough skin, coral-like dorsal fins, and tail that incorporate Godzilla elements.
Even with the adorable chibi design presenting the Beast "G" Mode, each detail retains a highly biological and realistic sculpt. Particularly striking is the roaring head, revealing murky, ferocious white eyes and multiple rows of sharp teeth, possessing a distinct stylistic charm compared to the Toho 30cm version.
Furthermore, the limited edition sold exclusively on X-PLUS's official online store, "Shonen RIC," features a built-in LED light-up mechanism in the head. After inserting batteries and turning on the power, the left pair of eyes will emit a green glow!
