Japan's official Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, announced today that the latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam 00", the "MG 1/100 Gundam Exia [Clear Color]", is scheduled to go on sale in stores starting November 09, 2024.
The GN-001 Gundam Exia, piloted by protagonist Setsuna F. Seiei in the series, is one of the third-generation Gundam mobile suits manufactured by the private armed organization "Celestial Being". It utilizes the compact "GN Drive", a new power source capable of generating immense energy, which propels the mobile suit, defends its body, and jams radar by releasing "GN Particles". Gundam Exia's streamlined and lightweight armor design allows it to achieve movements almost identical to the human body. Its armaments include physical weapons not found on the other three units: the GN Sword, GN Long Blade, and GN Short Blade, which, along with two Beam Sabers and two Beam Daggers, are collectively known as the "Seven Swords". With extremely high mobility, it can execute high-speed, agile close-quarters combat.
The "MG 1/100 Gundam Exia [Clear Color]" is based on the regular release kit from 2009, with the original white, blue, red, green, and yellow parts replaced by clear molded colors. This creates a unique, futuristic aesthetic and allows visibility of the internal movable frame structure, making it highly suitable for special customization techniques such as lighting or glow-in-the-dark paints, offering a distinct style compared to standard Gunpla.
Other features remain consistent with the regular version, utilizing translucent soft plastic sheets with a polarizing effect to recreate the exposed GN Cables in various sections. The "GN Drive" housed within the chest can be detached independently, and by attaching a separately sold LED light unit, it can replicate its green-glowing activation state. The armaments fully include the Seven Swords, comprising the GN Sword (which can transform into rifle mode), GN Long Blade, GN Short Blade, two Beam Sabers, two Beam Daggers, and the GN Shield.
