Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division recently showcased a prototype of its latest limited Gunpla product, "RG 1/144 Sazabi [Mechanical Core Plating]". The product is scheduled for limited sale starting December 2024 at Japan's official Mobile Suit Gundam Gunpla flagship store, "THE GUNDAM BASE".
The "MSN-04 Sazabi", piloted by Commander Char Aznable in the series, is a large Mobile Suit approximately 26 meters in length, incorporating technologies from successive Zeon-type mobile suits. Its color is as vivid red as Char's previous custom mobile suits. The entire unit is equipped with fuel tanks, numerous thrusters, and attitude control nozzles, allowing it to exhibit excellent maneuverability in space despite its seemingly bulky appearance. In terms of firepower, this unit is armed with a high-output large beam rifle, a large beam tomahawk, a belly-mounted diffuse mega particle cannon, and other weapons. Additionally, parts of its internal frame utilize a psycho-frame, enabling Char to leverage his Newtype abilities and control the 6 funnels mounted on its back for all-range attacks.
The "RG 1/144 Sazabi [Mechanical Core Plating]" is a modification based on the previously released regular version. The entire model similarly features intricate internal frame detailing, articulation mechanisms, and a stylish exterior comparable to MG grade kits. The characteristic red exterior armor parts have been changed to transparent red molded color, with silver plating applied to the core surface of the parts to bring out the intricate details. Finally, the entire parts are finished with a transparent red coating, creating a unique style that blends transparent luster with metallic texture.
