Japanese artist Johnny Akihito from Nagoya, in collaboration with art unit The little hut and renowned Japanese toy brand HEADLOCK STUDIO, recently launched his solo exhibition 【WEIRED COLLECTIONS】 at an art gallery in the East District. The exhibition features not only a rich collection of paintings and three brand-new three-dimensional soft vinyl figures, but also a giant MEATY peering at everyone through the display window! Johnny, who excels at using simple lines and strong color palettes, will hold his first solo exhibition at The Little Hut in October. His creative style has always skillfully evoked a nostalgic artistic atmosphere, with his amusing original characters frequently appearing in his paintings. This showcases his unique perspective and rich imagination, transporting viewers into a fantastical world. His artworks are not merely visual feasts but also emotional resonances, awakening memories and emotional connections to the past. Born in Nagoya, Japan, in 1985. At the age of 20, he was inspired by a monster painting in a Los Angeles gallery and began experimenting with painting. In 2011, he moved to the United States, immersing himself in Lowbrow art. After five years of artistic cultivation in California, he is now based in Nagoya, actively holding exhibitions in Japan and overseas, and consistently creating a series of characters that are both bizarre and irresistibly charming.
