Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS HOBBY Division is set to release its latest product, the "HG 1/144 Gundam EX", from the 3D animation series "Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance" on October 19, 2024. Official new information, including product box art design and actual sample images, has been unveiled ahead of its release.
The RX-78(G)E Gundam EX, designed by Kimitoshi Yamane, the designer of the Gundam Ez8, is one of the latest RX-78 series Gundam mobile suits developed by the Earth Federation Forces during the One Year War. In the series, it was deployed to the European front in November, Universal Century 0079. To enable deep penetration into enemy lines for forced reconnaissance and rear disruption, its mobility and operating time were specially enhanced. It was also equipped with beam rifles and beam sabers, weapons whose power surpassed that of solid-projectile weapons, even earlier than the Zeon Forces, thoroughly devastating Zeon's Zaku-led counterattack units. However, all development data for this mobile suit was destroyed during the chaotic post-war period, becoming a secret unknown to later generations.
The "HG 1/144 Gundam EX" utilizes more precise injection-molded parts compared to previous products, extensively reproducing the high-density details designed by Kimitoshi Yamane. From the layered armor design and the intricate internal structure of the shield to the detailed sculpting of the shoulder-mounted Gatling gun and ammunition box, every aspect is meticulously rendered.
For weaponry, it includes a beam rifle, a shield, and three beam sabers that can be rotated from the back to an anterior drawing stance. The Gatling gun's ammunition belt is made of soft material, allowing it to naturally flex and extend when the gun barrel is rotated. Combined with the flexible articulation design, it can recreate the intimidating combat poses seen in the series that struck fear into the Zeon Forces. The accessories also include stickers with various patterns, allowing for the reproduction of unit emblems and markings on various parts of the mobile suit.
