In addition to the upcoming Marvel Studios films, television series, and the collaborative decks with Wizards of the Coast's 'Magic: The Gathering', Marvel Comics announced at this year's New York Comic Con the launch of the 'New Ultimate Universe' comic series 'Ultimate Wolverine'.
'Ultimate Wolverine' is the latest installment in the 'New Ultimate Universe', following works such as 'Ultimate Spider-Man', 'Ultimate Black Panther', and 'Ultimate X-Men', and is written by Chris Condon of 'Venom War: Daredevil'.
Like 'Ultimate Spider-Man' and other works, this time 'Ultimate Wolverine' completely redefines Wolverine's origin — or rather, follows the initial concept of being a secret weapon for the government and further expands upon it.
According to the official description from Marvel Comics, Wolverine reluctantly becomes an agent employed by a Creator (Maker), but even so, he still showcases top-notch skills in assassination missions, and his codename is designated as 'Winter Soldier'. However, his true identity as Wolverine aka the Winter Soldier is still unknown.
In addition to writer Chris Condon, the artwork is handled by Alessandro CAPPUCCHIO for both the interior and cover, and 'Ultimate Wolverine' is scheduled to be released on January 15, 2025. Prior to that, 'Ultimate Universe: One Year' #1, set to launch in December 2024, will also give an advanced look at this 'unknown identity' Wolverine.
