James Gunn's first DCU project, the animated series "Creature Commandos," is set to kick off the new DC cinematic universe. With the first film, "Superman," slated for 2025 and recent details emerging, fan anticipation is high.
Ever since James Gunn announced the DCU's launch, several actors have publicly expressed interest in joining the new DC universe and playing specific roles. This includes Alan Ritchson, who hopes to portray Batman, and Dave Bautista, a frequent collaborator of Gunn's, who has voiced his desire to play the iconic villain Bane.
Now, it's not just Hollywood stars making their wishes known. Christopher Sean, the voice actor for Nightwing (Dick Grayson) in the DC Comics video game "Gotham Knights," revealed in an interview with Screen Rant that he also wants to join James Gunn's DCU, hoping to portray the DC hero he voiced in live-action.
Sean's reason for wanting to join is straightforward. He stated that he was the first Asian American to voice Nightwing for DC and also voiced Toyman in "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League," describing the character as an engineer and a boy genius. Sean believes Toyman might also be the only Japanese-American mixed-race character, which he finds quite special.
He added that he would be absolutely thrilled to transition to live-action. Sean emphasized that he has trained in martial arts his entire life, viewing these characters as figures he admires, and that he learned martial arts specifically to play them in live-action. He concluded by saying that if the opportunity arose, he would be ready, directly appealing to James Gunn to cast him.
