After two years in development, the highly anticipated "God of War" video game adaptation, a collaboration between PlayStation and Amazon Prime Video, recently faced a setback when showrunner and executive producers Rafe Judkins, Hawk Ostby, and Mark Fergus unexpectedly exited the project. This departure necessitated a complete re-evaluation of the series' development and a search for a new showrunner and writing team.
Amazon Prime has quickly announced a significant new hire to lead the series. Reports indicate that Ronald D. Moore, acclaimed for his work as showrunner on "Battlestar Galactica" and as a producer on "Star Trek: The Next Generation," will take over as showrunner for the "God of War" video game adaptation.
Foreign media outlets also noted that during the two and a half years working with former "The Wheel of Time" showrunner Rafe Judkins, several scripts had already been completed. This recent personnel change has thus led to a more extensive overhaul of the "God of War" series' production. Despite these developments, Cory Barlog, the game designer behind the original video game, remains with the production team to assist in development. Additionally, Yumi Yang, along with PlayStation producers Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, continue their involvement in the adaptation.
