The "Jumanji" film series has achieved significant global box office success, and Columbia Pictures today officially announced that the third sequel is in active development and slated for an IMAX release on December 11, 2026.
According to Variety, the main cast, including Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black, are all expected to return. Series director Jake Kasdan is also anticipated to return to helm the project. The "Jumanji" film series follows a group of teenagers trapped in a video game.
Dwayne Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions will continue to produce the film. Producer Hiram Garcia stated back in 2021 that Seven Bucks Productions had a "huge vision" for the next "Jumanji" and that everyone was "very excited." He indicated that they would begin work on it soon, with "Jumanji 3" commencing immediately after "Red One" was released, at which point they expected to be ready for official filming.

In a 2023 interview with Variety, Kevin Hart confirmed that "Jumanji 3" would be the final chapter of the series, bringing a definitive conclusion to the relationship between his character and Johnson's. He added that they needed a "grand ending" to conclude their partnership without leaving any regrets.
"Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" grossed over $960 million worldwide, making it the fifth highest-grossing film of 2017. Its sequel, "Jumanji: The Next Level," also performed strongly at the box office, earning over $800 million globally.
