Following the premiere of Netflix's animated series "Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft," Amazon Prime's previously announced live-action "Tomb Raider" series is officially moving forward. According to a recent report from Deadline, Amazon MGM Studios has now commenced the casting process for its lead role, Lara Croft.
Sources indicate that actresses who have reportedly auditioned for the role of Lara Croft include Sophie Turner (pictured below left), known for her portrayal of young Jean Grey in "X-Men: Apocalypse," and Lucy Boynton (pictured below right), who appeared in the 2018 biographical film "Bohemian Rhapsody."
The report also mentioned other names linked to the "Tomb Raider" live-action series, including Emma Corrin from "The Crown" and the upcoming "Deadpool & Wolverine," as well as Mackenzie Davis, known for "Blade Runner 2049" and "Terminator: Dark Fate." However, these actresses are reportedly not auditioning for Lara Croft.
The identities of other actresses who have auditioned for the series remain undisclosed, and Amazon MGM Studios has not yet provided further official comments on the casting process.
The Amazon Prime "Tomb Raider" live-action series is being written and executive produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, creator of the acclaimed series "Fleabag." Video game developer Crystal Dynamics is also set to co-produce the series alongside Amazon MGM Studios.
