Bandai Spirits Japan's popular Tokusatsu and Kaiju-themed soft vinyl toy series, "MOVIE MONSTER," has announced a brand new sub-series, "MOVIE MONSTER Posing." The first wave will feature "Godzilla (1965)" from the movie "Invasion of Astro-Monster," scheduled for release on January 18, 2025.
Compared to the more singular standard standing poses of regular MOVIE MONSTER figures, the new "MOVIE MONSTER Posing" series adopts a richer variety of poses to recreate dynamic classic scenes from the film. The first product in the series features Godzilla's memorable comical pose from "Invasion of Astro-Monster."
This pose actually originates from the signature gag pose "Sheeeh!" (シェー) of Iyami, the buck-toothed character from Fujio Akatsuka's manga "Osomatsu-kun." As it was a nationwide craze in Japan during the 1960s, Eiji Tsuburaya, who served as the special effects director for "Invasion of Astro-Monster" at the time, adopted the "Sheeeh!" pose for Godzilla to delight the children watching the film.
The "MOVIE MONSTER Posing Godzilla (1965)" stands approximately 17.5 cm tall, faithfully recreating the classic scene from the film featuring the "Sheeeh!" pose using soft vinyl material. Its distinctive head sculpt and the gray lines on its chest are accurately reproduced through paint application. To maintain this unique pose, the product also includes a rock-shaped display base to securely display the Godzilla figure.
