Heidi Returns: "Heidi Rescue of the Lynx" 3D Animated Film Debuts First Trailer

The 3D animated film "Heidi Rescue of the Lynx," an adaptation of 19th-century Swiss author Johanna Spyri's classic children's novel "Heidi," has unveiled its first trailer today. Produced by Studio Isar Animation and Studio 100 Film, the preview offers a glimpse into a brand-new adventure for the beloved girl from the Swiss Alps.

Prior to this new adaptation, the most renowned screen version was the 1974 television anime series "Heidi, Girl of the Alps," produced by Zuiyo Eizo, a subsidiary of Japan's Zuiyo Enterprise. That series remains a critically acclaimed classic to this day.

Now, Studio 100 Film's latest 3D animated feature centers on an 8-year-old Heidi as she embarks on a mission to save a family of lynx and protect their natural habitat from encroaching, greedy merchants. During her quest, she also persuades her grandfather to allow the lynx to return to the wild and live freely with their families.

Studio 100 Film emphasized that "Heidi Rescue of the Lynx" will be a fresh take while remaining true to the original spirit and character portrayals. The film is directed by Tobias Schwarz, known for his work on "Tarzan 2" and "The Queen's Corgi," with the screenplay penned by Rob Sprackling, also a writer for "The Queen's Corgi."

The 3D animated film "Heidi Rescue of the Lynx" is set to be showcased this week at the American Film Market (AFM), with production slated for completion by summer 2025.
