Japanese toy company TAKARA TOMY's high-end toy brand T-SPARK, known for its external collaboration series "SYNERGENEX," today announced the latest product from its popular transforming toy "Transformers" in collaboration with the 70th-anniversary tokusatsu monster "Godzilla." The "Optimus Prime TYPE 3-式 Kiryu" is scheduled for release in late May 2025.
Leveraging years of expertise in designing "Transformers" series toys, TAKARA TOMY ingeniously combines the series' renowned Autobot leader "Optimus Prime" with humanity's anti-Godzilla weapon, "3-式 Kiryu." The concept posits that Optimus Prime, to combat Megatron's Godzilla form, has been enhanced with data from an alternate world's anti-Godzilla weapon, allowing him to transform into a new mode resembling a special self-defense force vehicle.
In robot mode, Optimus Prime is adorned with silver-white armor reminiscent of 3-式 Kiryu, featuring two red lines on his head and a commemorative logo on his chest celebrating Godzilla's 70th anniversary. His back is equipped with weaponry resembling Kiryu's full armament mode, and his chest armor can even open to reveal a hidden cannon, paying homage to 3-式 Kiryu's ultimate weapon, the "Absolute Zero Cannon."
After Optimus Prime's main body transforms into his familiar truck cab, connecting it with the accessory tank trailer forms a new mode resembling a self-defense force vehicle. The tank trailer part incorporates the image of 3-式 Kiryu's maintenance base, featuring a function to transform into a weapon rack. When deployed, its internal space can store Optimus Prime's sword, axe, and other armaments.
