It's widely known that acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino plans to retire after his tenth film, though the subject of his "final film" remains undecided. However, legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott, who is gearing up for his return with "Gladiator 2," doesn't believe Tarantino will actually step away from the director's chair.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, when asked about Tarantino's intention to retire after his tenth movie, Scott responded bluntly, stating, "I don't f***ing believe that bullsh*t."
The interviewer suggested that if someone truly loves something and possesses talent in that field, the passion will continuously pull them back if they try to stop. Scott agreed, emphatically telling Tarantino, "Just shut up and make another movie!"

Scott also recalled that Tarantino had penned the screenplay for "True Romance" for his late brother, Tony Scott (pictured above), and that the two had a good working relationship. However, Ridley Scott admitted he was unsure if he himself had ever met Tarantino.
The reporter further inquired if, as Tony Scott's brother, he felt any discomfort regarding "Top Gun: Maverick." Scott replied that he did not. He explained that he had been approached to direct the film but chose not to follow in his brother's footsteps, noting that Tony was always more drawn to contemporary subjects. Scott elaborated that his own films typically fall into historical, fantasy, or sci-fi genres, citing "Alien," "Blade Runner," and "Legend" as examples, and emphasizing that those weren't Tony's preferred style.
Beyond Scott, Martin Scorsese also weighed in on Tarantino's "retirement talk" in 2023. Scorsese shared that he remained curious about everything, which was a driving force for him. He explained that if he felt curious about a subject, he would find a way to explore it and try to present it in a film, provided he maintained interest in the topic. He added that his curiosity persisted, and he could not speak for Quentin Tarantino or other equally capable independent creators.
