Dwayne Johnson Addresses 'Red One' Set Allegations of Tardiness and Peeing in Bottles: 'Yes, That Happens'

The Christmas action-comedy "Red One," starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, has been at the center of controversy since earlier this year, when anonymous insiders alleged that Johnson's "frequent tardiness" on set caused significant budget overruns and that he often urinated in water bottles to save time.

In a recent interview with GQ, Johnson candidly admitted that these situations did occur, including being late and using bottles to relieve himself. "I’ve said it a thousand times, if you have any questions, come to me. I’ll tell you the truth," he stated.

However, Johnson refuted the claims of severe budget overruns. "Yes, it happens. But not to that degree," he said. "Those are crazy numbers. That’s absurd."

Director Jake Kasdan pointed out that Johnson "was never absent for a single day of work." He added, "He has a very full schedule, and sometimes he’s late, but that’s a very common thing in Hollywood. Honestly, I've made three huge movies with him, and I have never seen him treat a single person on the crew with anything but kindness and respect."

Co-star Chris Evans also came to his defense, acknowledging that Johnson was sometimes late but that it was always communicated beforehand. "But the director and producers are basically his production team, so his schedule is in their hands," Evans explained. "He's not just showing up late out of nowhere. I wouldn't even call it 'being late.' He's sometimes a little later in the morning for certain things, but it's part of the plan. Everybody knows his schedule, so he shows up when he's supposed to show up."

Evans added, "From what I saw, compared to other actors I've seen on other sets who don't give a sh*t about other people's time and effort, he's very disciplined. We all knew what he was doing and when he was doing it."
