The HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company has announced the latest product from its 'HG (High Grade)' robot model kit series, the 'Scopedog Turbo Custom' from the anime 'Armored Trooper VOTOMS', slated for release in April 2025.
Developed by the Gilgamesh Army, the official main AT, the 'ATM-09-ST Scopedog', was the most mass-produced unit during the Hundred Years' War. In the series, besides being piloted by the protagonist Chirico Cuvie, its extremely high versatility led to its modification into various derivative specifications, utilized across different units. The ATM-09-STTC Scopedog Turbo Custom, released this time, is an improved specification that appeared in the OVA anime 'Armored Trooper VOTOMS: The Last Red Shoulder'. It features auxiliary propulsion nozzles added to the leg rollers and enhanced output, which not only boosts the unit's maximum movement speed by 120% but also strengthens its armaments due to the increased power.
The 'HG Scopedog Turbo Custom' is based on modifications from previously released Scopedog series kits, utilizing numerous new parts to reproduce its distinct leg design, which allows for the deployment of the internal jet roller dash unit. It also features newly designed shoulder parts that, compared to previous versions, reduce parts interference and increase the range of motion for raising both arms, expanding articulation.
Other design aspects are consistent with the separately sold HG Scopedog series kits. The overall armor is constructed with solid, non-hollow parts, conveying both a sense of substantial weight and intricate internal detailing. The characteristic triple rotating lens on the head features rotating and sliding articulation mechanisms, with the lenses themselves reproduced using three-dimensional metallic stickers to simulate a glowing effect. The limb joints are flexible, and the torso is composed of multiple ball joints, allowing for the recreation of its dormant, unactivated state.
In addition to the handheld 'Heavy Machine Gun', backpack-mounted '7-tube Missile Pod', and 'Gatling Gun', optional modification armor parts are also included, allowing for changes in armor styling or the addition of 3mm weapon expansion ports.
