The popular action figure series "S.H.Figuarts," released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors' toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., has announced the commercialization of "Inspector Chan Ka-Kui," based on the Hong Kong police action film "Police Story"! It is also scheduled to be first displayed at the "TAMASHII NATION 2024" event, held from November 15-17, 2024, at Bellesalle Akihabara.
The police action film "Police Story" (ポリス・ストーリー／香港国際警察), released in 1985, was directed by martial arts superstar Jackie Chan. The plot tells the story of police officer Chan Ka-Kui (played by Jackie Chan) who risks his life to apprehend drug lord Chu Tao during a raid, only to suffer retaliation, be framed for murder, become a wanted man, and embark on a journey to clear his name. The film series is known for its high-difficulty, death-defying stunts, showcasing Jackie Chan's exquisite martial arts through dangerous actions like car chases and jumping from tall buildings, and was rated as one of Hong Kong's top ten films of the 1980s.
This early announcement of "S.H.Figuarts Inspector Chan Ka-Kui" reveals product images that perfectly recreate Jackie Chan's facial features (I really want a Drunken Master version with interchangeable expressions!). Dressed in the military green jumpsuit worn during the pursuit of Chu Tao, it definitely needs a bus and an umbrella as accessories! Movie fans are highly anticipating further official product announcements.
