BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Division, TAMASHII NATIONS, today unveiled a host of new products set to debut at "TAMASHII NATION 2024," taking place November 15-17 at Bellesalle Akihabara. This article highlights the new "Ben Kenobi -Classic Ver.-" Action Figure, part of the "CineToy TAMASHII" series from their S.H.Figuarts action figure brand, which focuses on film and TV properties. This latest release draws from "Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope" and will retail for 11,550 JPY, with an estimated release in March 2025.
In "Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope," a young Luke Skywalker, while searching for R2-D2 who had left home in the middle of the night with C-3PO, encountered his eccentric neighbor—Old Obi-Wan, operating under the alias "Ben Kenobi." Through their subsequent conversations, Luke learned that Ben was his father's former comrade-in-arms, gained knowledge about the Jedi Knights, and embarked with Ben on a journey to rescue Leia.
This "Ben Kenobi -Classic Ver.-" Action Figure stands approximately 15 cm tall. It appears to reuse the same head sculpt as the 2018 release, but the arm design has been updated, now featuring the inner beige sleeves instead of the previous brown Jedi robe sleeves. The Jedi robe itself has been upgraded to a fabric material, significantly enhancing the accuracy of the sculpt. This time, there's no need for additional parts to recreate his vanishing act after his defeat! Accessories include two left and three right interchangeable hand parts, an alternate head sculpt, a lightsaber hilt, and a standard lightsaber effect part. It also adds a new lightsaber effect part with a motion blur effect, perfect for pairing with the "Darth Vader -Classic Ver.-" released last month to recreate the iconic final confrontation between master and apprentice from the film!
