"Tomb Raider" Live-Action Series: Amazon Prime Taps "X-Men" Alum Sophie Turner as Lara Croft

Following reports from outlet Deadline that Amazon MGM Studios had begun auditions for its upcoming live-action "Tomb Raider" series on Amazon Prime, it has now been officially confirmed that Sophie Turner, known for her role as a young Jean Grey in "X-Men: Apocalypse," will take on the iconic lead role of Lara Croft.

As previously reported, Lucy Boynton, who starred in the 2018 biographical film "Bohemian Rhapsody," was also among those who auditioned for the role of Lara Croft, but Sophie Turner ultimately secured the coveted part.

The Amazon Prime "Tomb Raider" live-action series will be written and executive produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, creator of "Fleabag." Video game developer Crystal Dynamics will co-produce the series alongside Amazon MGM Studios.
