Denzel Washington Confirms "The Equalizer" Franchise to Continue with Fourth and Fifth Installments: Will Director Antoine Fuqua Return?

While promoting "Gladiator II" and confirming his role in the MCU film "Black Panther 3," Denzel Washington revealed in an interview with Esquire that "The Equalizer" franchise, which has already released three installments, will get two new sequels.

"I told the team I'd do another 'Equalizer,' but they're already working on 'Equalizer 4' and '5.' So, you know, it's a good sign for the fans, they really love this damn 'Equalizer' series," Denzel Washington stated.

"The Equalizer," directed by Antoine Fuqua, has been a fan favorite since its 2014 release. "The Equalizer 3," released in 2023, was widely believed by many fans to be the final chapter, especially with Denzel Washington's character, Robert McCall, seemingly retired. However, Washington's personal confirmation of future installments has heightened anticipation among fans for what's next.

While it's currently unclear if director Antoine Fuqua will return for "The Equalizer 4" and "The Equalizer 5," foreign media speculates that the upcoming sequels might explore Robert McCall's origin story, especially considering Fuqua's past interest in using AI technology to de-age Denzel Washington for a younger portrayal.
