The 'ROBOT Damashii ver. A.N.I.M.E.' series of robot-themed articulated finished products, released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam," the "Ball Two-Unit Formation Set Solomon Capture Operation Color," scheduled for release in June 2025.
The RB-79 Ball is a "simplified Mobile Suit" developed by the Earth Federation Forces during the One Year War by modifying space work pods. Its primary mission was to assist GMs in combat (a formation of 1 GM and 2 Balls). However, its development was rushed to deploy it to the battlefield as quickly as possible, and its armament consisted only of a 180mm cannon on its head and two small manipulator arms. Not only was its combat power extremely low, but in the series, it was even kicked around like a ball by Zaku units, making its status even more insignificant than the GM. For this reason, it was nicknamed "Round Coffin" and "Mobile Coffin" by its own soldiers.
To coincide with the commercialization of the massive Mobile Armor "Big-Zam" used by the Principality of Zeon during the Solomon Capture Operation, the ROBOT Damashii ver. A.N.I.M.E. series is re-releasing the "Ball" with a refreshed Solomon Capture Operation color scheme. The entire unit's color tone is deeper than the original version, but other specifications are essentially the same.
The "ROBOT Damashii Ball Two-Unit Formation Set ver. A.N.I.M.E." product includes two Ball units and effect parts for two units. It features a classic design closely resembling the anime's setting illustrations, faithfully reproducing its characteristic rounded body and two slender manipulator arms. The 180mm cannon on its head can be adjusted up and down, and the arms also feature multiple articulated joints. Combined with the included clear display stand and effect parts, it can recreate both its floating state and the state of multiple explosions on its body.
