Taiwanese artist Fu Hsing-Han (VASTAR) has long collaborated with Warner Bros. Pictures due to his unique old-school American comic style, and in recent years, his graffiti works featuring characters like the Joker and Batman have garnered attention from fans both domestically and internationally. This year, he was honored with the official main visual design for Japan's annual comic event, "TOKYO COMIC CON 2024," becoming the first Taiwanese artist to participate in and win an award at this prestigious event. Fu Hsing-Han's work, "Guardianship and Blessing," stood out from numerous submissions worldwide through a global selection process, showcasing the strength of Taiwanese art.

Fu Hsing-Han was invited by OMO Gallery to participate in the "ARTIST ALLEY" event at "TOKYO COMIC CON 2024," becoming the first artist to represent Taiwan at the event. OMO Gallery hopes to promote exchanges between Taiwanese and global artists through this joint exhibition with Fu Hsing-Han. Reflecting on the main visual competition process, Fu Hsing-Han stated that he initially approached it with a "participation over competition" mindset and never expected to receive the honor of being the sole official main visual designer. He remarked, "Just like the great culture of comics, anything is possible." Winning an award on his first submission made him feel that 2024 is full of wonders. Prior to this, he had just completed an international collaboration with Anthony Francisco, the former Marvel Senior Visual Development Artist known as the "Father of Baby Groot," and this award undoubtedly adds a new milestone to his artistic career. Speaking about the award, Fu Hsing-Han said, "Happiness and gratitude are not enough to express my excitement; it's hard to believe my work can be seen by the world. As a child, I dreamed of becoming anyone I wanted to be, and now I am fortunate to be a part of this." He believes that in the world of imagination, everyone can be the protagonist who opens a new chapter. As a DC fan, Fu Hsing-Han has created graffiti works for films such as "Black Adam," "Batman," "Joker," "Wonder Woman," and "Suicide Squad," and he looks forward to seeing his favorite Hollywood superstars live at "TOKYO COMIC CON 2024."

The main visual work, "Guardianship and Blessing," was inspired by the changes in global life after the pandemic. Fu Hsing-Han transformed himself and his pet "OLULU" into the characters "VASTAR and the Black Cat," incorporating elements of Japan's "Maneki-neko" (beckoning cat), which symbolizes good fortune, and Taiwan's traditional "Bajiajiang" (Eight Generals), responsible for guardianship and warding off evil. This piece combines traditional culture with modern aesthetics, using Fu Hsing-Han's signature American comic style to create characters with strong visual impact, giving new vitality to traditional culture. At the same time, Fu Hsing-Han hopes to bring abundant blessings and good luck to everyone through this work.

OMO Gallery is also very grateful to Jimmy Cheng Tzu-Ching, founder of the "Youth Art Association" graffiti art group and head of "City Mark Creative Marketing Studio," for the introduction. Besides introducing us to Hsing-Han, there are many more creative artists to discover in the future. Fu Hsing-Han will attend "TOKYO COMIC CON 2024," held in Makuhari, Tokyo, from December 6th to 8th, 2024.
