(Foreword) When it comes to 12-inch Bruce Lee figures, the first thing that comes to my mind is Enterbay's Bruce Lee series. After all, EB built its foundation on Bruce Lee in its early years, and its founder, Bill, is also an ardent fan of Bruce Lee. Although Hot Toys has also released two Bruce Lee figures, unfortunately, the head sculpt of the "Enter the Dragon" version was overly beautified, making it less resemble Bruce Lee. And the subsequent smiling version and suit version of Bruce Lee, while personally sculpted by Master Kim (Arnie Kim), felt like the works weren't entirely heartfelt. Therefore, compared to EB (not to mention EB's early paint application issues, as EB's paintwork was truly inferior to HT's), I prefer the Bruce Lee figures released by EB.
Because of Master Kim's complete dedication to his work, coupled with Bill's passion, the Bruce Lee figures produced in those years truly captured Bruce Lee's characteristics in terms of form and spirit. Among them, my absolute favorite is actually the "Game of Death" version of Bruce Lee, jointly released with Nokia back then, commonly known as the N96. On one hand, I believe "Game of Death" is a perfect work for Bruce Lee to showcase his martial arts philosophy. Although Bruce Lee only completed one-third of this film, watching those thirty to forty minutes of fight scenes, I already find it incredibly perfect. The second point is that the N96 Bruce Lee head sculpt possesses a truly masterful demeanor, exuding a pensive and profound feeling.
Because this was a limited edition product at the time, and over a decade has passed, it's becoming increasingly rare on the market. New ones are very expensive and hard to find. Recently, I was very fortunate to acquire one, and I'm extremely happy. Although due to its age, the packaging box is gone, and there are no interchangeable hand sculpts or display base, only the main figure remains. But I am truly delighted and satisfied after receiving it; its flaws do not overshadow its brilliance. Anyway, let's revisit this classic Bruce Lee figure together!
“Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup; you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle; you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.” -----Bruce Lee
