Since its June premiere, the "Star Wars" series "The Acolyte" has faced a barrage of overwhelmingly negative reviews from netizens, with many criticisms directly targeting the show's casting choices emphasizing racial diversity. While such commentary is not new to the "Star Wars" franchise, the intense public outcry surrounding "The Acolyte" remains difficult to ignore. Even cast member Amandla Stenberg felt compelled to post multiple times in response. Ultimately, the series' lower-than-expected viewership led to its cancellation after just one season.

Lee Jung-jae, the Korean star who portrays a Jedi Master in the series, had previously expressed his disappointment regarding "The Acolyte's" cancellation. More recently, while promoting "Squid Game" Season 2, he spoke with Vanity Fair and addressed the "skin color" attacks directed at the cast, stating, "I was very hurt, and it must have been even more painful for Leslye Headland (the showrunner, pictured left below)."

However, Lee Jung-jae remains hopeful, anticipating a shift in public perception towards "The Acolyte." He stated, "I can only believe that racism will end someday, even if it's not easy to achieve. Some works take time to gain recognition, and I truly hope people will gradually come to appreciate 'The Acolyte' over time. As long as I remain grateful, everything will work out."
Lee Jung-jae also emphasized that he isn't bothered by fans infringing on his private life, nor does he harbor negative feelings towards them. He frankly stated that if he couldn't endure such things, he might as well quit his job. He concluded, "The fanbase comes with the development of my career; that's its very nature. So I cannot take everything for granted. Regardless, I am always grateful."
