The film's voice cast features Golden Globe winner Brian Cox, Gaia Wise (daughter of Academy Award winner Emma Thompson), and Lorraine Ashbourne (wife of Andy Serkis, who famously played Gollum), among others.

Returning from the live-action trilogy, Miranda Otto, who portrayed Éowyn, niece of King Théoden of Rohan in "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" and "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," reprises her role to narrate the film. Additionally, unused audio recordings from the late Christopher Lee, who played Saruman in "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," will be incorporated into the movie. The film is slated for release in North America on December 13.

"The War of the Rohirrim" is set 183 years before the events of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. The story follows the cunning and ruthless Dunlending Lord Wulf, who declares war on Rohan to avenge his father's death. This forces Rohan's ninth king, Helm Hammerhand, and his people to make a desperate stand at the ancient fortress of the Hornburg, later known as Helm's Deep. Amidst this dire situation, Helm Hammerhand's daughter, Hera, must bravely lead her people against the formidable enemy determined to annihilate them.
