After conquering the global box office with nearly $1.5 billion for "Barbie" last year, director Greta Gerwig is now focused on developing her long-awaited new film adaptation of "The Chronicles of Narnia."
While producer and distributor Netflix has yet to officially announce which book in the beloved series will serve as the first installment, the general assumption has been that the project would start with the first published book, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," and proceed in order. However, the latest news suggests Gerwig's plan might be different.

Jason Isaacs (pictured above), known for his role as Lucius Malfoy in the "Harry Potter" film series, recently shared his book recommendations with The Week. His list included the sixth book in the "Narnia" series, "The Magician's Nephew."
In his reasoning for the recommendation, Isaacs, a fan of the original novels, revealed a key piece of information about Gerwig's project: "I'm recommending it because Greta Gerwig is making a film of it and I can't wait to see it." Isaacs didn't elaborate on how he knew Gerwig was adapting "The Magician's Nephew" first, but he previously auditioned for the role of the lion Aslan in the original film series. This has led to speculation that he may have finally been cast in the new version, giving him inside knowledge.
"The Magician's Nephew" serves as a prequel. While it was the sixth book to be published, its story is the earliest in the series' chronological timeline, suggesting Gerwig may intend to start from the very beginning of the saga.
