As he kicks off promotional duties for his upcoming film "Mickey 17" [], Robert Pattinson graced the latest cover of The New York Times and opened up about some truths he may have never revealed before. Pattinson admitted that he has a long history of fabricating outlandish, fictional stories for the media, often describing absurd experiences that never actually happened. He even expressed surprise at his own ability to lie without batting an eye when recalling these past interviews.

Pattinson confessed that his experiences with the media have also served as a form of acting practice, as he frequently "bullshits" during interviews. He cited a 2011 television interview he recently rewatched, where he spun a tale about witnessing a clown die in a car explosion as a child. Pattinson, both shocked and somewhat proud, quipped, "There was absolutely no hesitation at all [in my voice]. I'm like, 'What on earth? Are you possessed?'"
He continued, revealing that other stories he'd concocted included claims of being a female hand model and a deleted "Twilight" scene involving coprophilia—all complete fabrications. Perhaps the most widely circulated of Pattinson's lies was his anecdote about deterring a stalker. He had previously claimed that to shake off a persistent fan, he invited them to dinner and then bored them with incessant chatter until they were so fed up they left him alone and never bothered him again. This widely shared tale, Pattinson confirmed, was also entirely made up.

However, during this latest interview, Pattinson also shared some genuinely amusing interactions he's had with the public. For instance, while traveling to the Caribbean with his wife this year, an immigration officer checking his passport asked, "Aren't you that guy from 'Twilight'? Why haven't you acted in anything since?" Perplexed, Pattinson could only respond, "'Am I not Batman right now?' And then she laughed." It seems the officer might not have kept up with Pattinson's career post-"Twilight."

Speaking of Batman, "The Batman: Part II" has faced significant production delays due to recent union strikes, pushing its release back to at least 2028. Given that the first film also experienced multiple postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pattinson joked, "By the time this series is finished, I can just retire."
Another amusing Batman-related anecdote involved former "Batman" George Clooney, known for his pranks. Clooney once sent Pattinson a framed clipping of a "People" magazine "Sexiest Man Alive" cover, despite Pattinson not having actually won the title that year.
