American toy manufacturer McFarlane Toys' DC Direct series has announced a new product based on the classic "Detective Comics" theme – the "Batman (First Appearance)" 1/10 scale resin statue, with a suggested retail price of US$499.99, expected to be released in June 2025!
"Detective Comics" is a monthly comic magazine published by DC Comics starting in 1937. The well-known superhero Batman made his debut in issue #27, released in March 1939, telling the story of the uninteresting socialite Bruce Wayne transforming into a ruthless vigilante. Even though "Detective Comics" #27 has been reprinted multiple times, it remains one of the most sought-after collectibles among collectors!
This "Batman (First Appearance)" statue stands approximately 44.45 cm tall and is entirely crafted from polyresin. It brings to life the iconic cover of "Detective Comics" #27, depicting Batman's first appearance, with Batman dynamically grabbing a rope with one hand and clutching a villain's neck with the other! A support stand presents the two figures suspended in mid-air, with sculpted details like muscle lines and clothing wrinkles that surpass the comic's original art. The base recreates the rooftop background from the comic cover and features the "Detective COMICS" logo engraved on the front. The overall flat coloring style faithfully reproduces the comic's palette, offering fans a unique way to relive the charm of Batman's debut!
