Japan's official Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, today officially announced the latest limited-edition product from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack", the "RG 1/144 Sazabi [Mechanical Core Plating]", which is scheduled to go on sale in stores starting December 21, 2024.
The "MSN-04 Sazabi", piloted by Commander Char Aznable, is a large mobile suit approximately 26 meters in length, incorporating technologies from successive Zeon-type mobile suits. The entire unit is equipped with fuel tanks and numerous thrusters and attitude control nozzles, allowing it to exhibit excellent maneuverability in space despite its seemingly bulky appearance. In terms of firepower, this unit is armed with a high-output large beam rifle, a large beam tomahawk, a belly-mounted diffuse mega particle cannon, and other weapons. Additionally, parts of its internal frame utilize a psycho-frame, enabling Char to leverage his Newtype abilities and control the 6 funnels mounted on its back to launch all-range attacks.
The "RG 1/144 Sazabi [Mechanical Core Plating]" is based on a modified version of the previously released regular edition. The entire model similarly features intricate internal structure, articulation mechanisms, and stylish exterior details comparable to MG grade kits. The characteristic red exterior armor parts are molded in transparent red, with silver plating applied to the core surface of the parts to bring out the intricate details. Finally, the entire parts are given a transparent red coating, creating a unique style that blends transparent luster with a metallic texture.
The remaining specifications are essentially the same as the regular edition. The overall frame significantly reduces the use of the Advanced MS Joint frame, which often has poor strength and is prone to parts falling off, utilizing it only in areas such as the shoulder armor, wrists, and skirt armor. Other sections are constructed using individual parts, similar to MG grade kits and above, greatly enhancing detail richness, articulation, and strength compared to the Advanced MS Joint. The armaments include a beam shotgun, shield, beam tomahawk, and beam sabers. The backpack's funnel rack and the 6 funnels all feature deployment mechanisms, allowing for the recreation of their firing state with open muzzles.
