Japan's official Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, today officially announced the latest limited-edition product from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack," the "RG 1/144 ν Gundam (Double Fin Funnel Equipped Type)," which is scheduled for pre-sale at the Fukuoka "GUNDAM SIDE-F" store starting December 21, 2024.
Unlike the previously released 12 Fin Funnel Ver.2 version, this commercialized RX-93 ν Gundam (Double Fin Funnel Equipped Type) is based on the original Ver.1 design that appeared in "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack MSV." Its backpack has been modified to carry three fin funnels on each side to improve balance, and the design of some armor parts, the beam rifle, and the shield also differ from the standard ν Gundam, though there is no difference in performance.
The "RG 1/144 ν Gundam (Double Fin Funnel Equipped Type)" is a modification of the previously released regular version, utilizing numerous new parts to recreate the distinct designs of the head, shoulder armor, chest, skirt armor, beam rifle, shield, and other areas. The fin funnels mounted on the back have also been changed to a configuration of three on each side.
The internal frame of the main body remains the same as the regular version, completely abandoning the Advanced MS Joint integrated frame, which suffered from poor strength and parts detachment. Instead, it is constructed with numerous parts, similar to MG-grade products and above, significantly enhancing detail, articulation, and strength compared to the Advanced MS Joint. Furthermore, a precise interlocking armor mechanism has been introduced to heighten the mechanical feel.
Weapon accessories include a beam rifle, beam saber, hyper bazooka, and shield, which can be posed with various interchangeable hand parts. The six fin funnels mounted on the back are identical to the regular version, featuring Advanced MS Joint articulation to recreate their C-shaped transformation during attack.
