Japanese high-end statue manufacturer Prime 1 Studio's "Ultimate Premium Masterline" product series officially announced yesterday (11th) its latest product from Japanese manga artist Naoya Matsumoto's Kaiju No. 8: the "Kaiju No. 8" 1/4 scale full body statue! Both a Regular Edition and a DX Bonus Edition will be released simultaneously, with an estimated shipping period from March to June 2026. The suggested retail prices are ¥201,190 and ¥250,690 (tax included), respectively.
The story of Kaiju No. 8 is set in Japan, where kaiju appearances are extremely frequent. The protagonist, "Kafka Hibino," had a grand ambition since childhood to join the Defense Force and fight kaiju. However, due to multiple failed attempts, he had long given up on joining the Defense Force and instead took on the job of disposing of kaiju corpses, reaching the age of 32. One day, a young man named "Reno Ichikawa" became Kafka's junior. Unexpectedly, the two were suddenly attacked by a kaiju. After Kafka saved Reno, he resolved to try joining the Defense Force again. However, that very night, Kafka was invaded by an unknown creature, transforming him into an extremely powerful kaiju, which the world came to call "Kaiju No. 8"......
This piece stands at an impressive 70 cm tall, depicting Kaiju No. 8 in a ferocious pose, standing alone atop the remnants of the spider kaiju Triconephila (トリコネフィラ) after having defeated it. From the head sculpt's post-transformation design, the detailed facial expression, and the rough skin and spikes covering its entire body, to the indescribable skeletal remains of Triconephila and the still-attached muddy flesh, it can be said that this statue goes to great lengths to emphasize Kafka's bestial nature after his transformation and his immense power, measured at level 9.8. Compared to previous Kaiju No. 8 merchandise this editor has seen, this statue created by P1S makes this editor perceive No. 8 more as a terrifying, super-powerful kaiju, rather than Kafka after his transformation.
▼ Both the eyes and dorsal fins are equipped with LED light-up features!
Next, let's look at the DX Bonus Edition, which is released simultaneously. In addition to two interchangeable head sculpts – one roaring and one with the left eye carapace damaged, revealing Kafka's true face – and a head sculpt stand, it also includes multiple interchangeable hand parts, allowing for more varied display options for this Kaiju No. 8 statue.
▼ Purchasing from the Prime 1 Studio official store also grants a bonus head sculpt revealing half of Kafka's face.
